Program Overview- Blue Raider Baseball

The Blue Raiders, who recently came off one of the program’s most successful seasons, are frequent competitors in Conference USA and on a national level. Aside from the on-field success, the Blue Raiders call home to some of the premier facilities in all of college baseball.

Reese Smith Jr. Field, home of the Blue Raiders, seats 2,600 fans and is complete with two turfed hitting cages and enclosed bullpens. The program’s facilities also include the Stephen B. Smith Clubhouse, which features a major league-like locker room, training room, kitchen, and lounge areas.

Student-athletes also have access to a separate facility, the Middle Tennessee Sports Performance Center, which houses state-of-the-art weight training equipment as well as a nutrition center.

Middle Tennessee State University has an impressive track record of producing MLB draft picks. Almost every year the baseball program has one or more players selected in the MLB draft. This is a testament to the program’s level of play and the coaching staff’s ability to develop players.

Closing Remarks

We would like to give a special thanks to Coach Stein for taking the time to complete the Q&A and offer some advice to players who are in the recruiting process. For players that would like to introduce themselves to Coach Stein, they are encouraged to follow the instructions he mentioned and consider attending an upcoming prospect camp.

Also, we’d like to highlight a piece of advice that Coach Stein provided. He suggested players limit their search to 5-7 schools during the recruiting process. This is great advice, and while it may take some research and self-evaluation to properly identify 5-7 schools that are a practical option, players should narrow their focus as they progress in the recruiting process. This will allow players to stay organized and give each school the necessary attention in order to determine if it’s a good fit. Plus, prospect camps and college applications can get expensive. If players are applying to dozens and dozens of schools, this can quickly add up.

Again we would like to thank Coach Stein, and we wish the Blue Raiders the best of luck in their upcoming season.
