School Overview – Wright State University

Wright State University is a public research university located in Dayton, Ohio. It was founded in 1964 and named after the Wright brothers, the famous aviation pioneers. Today, the university serves more than 20,000 students and has a diverse range of academic programs and resources.

One of the most impressive things about Wright State is its commitment to hands-on, experiential learning. For example, the university has a state-of-the-art flight simulation lab, where students can gain practical experience in aviation. It also has a top-notch engineering program, with a focus on fields such as bioengineering and robotics. Additionally, the university is home to several cutting-edge research centers, including the Center for Biomedical Engineering and Science and the Wright State Research Institute.

Another standout feature of Wright State is its beautiful campus. The university has more than 800 acres of land, with a mix of modern and historic buildings, green spaces, and lakes. There are also plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in campus life, including over 200 student organizations and clubs, as well as Greek life and intramural sports.

In terms of academics, Wright State offers more than 200 degree programs across eight colleges, including arts and sciences, education and human services, engineering and computer science, and more. The university has a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, which means that students receive plenty of individual attention from their professors. Additionally, Wright State has a strong commitment to affordability, with low tuition rates and a wide range of scholarships and financial aid opportunities.

When it comes to student success, Wright State has a lot to offer. The university has a strong career center, which helps students find internships, co-op opportunities, and job placements after graduation. It also has a thriving alumni network, with over 80,000 alumni living and working around the world. And, for those who need extra support, the university offers a range of student services, including academic advising, counseling, and tutoring.

Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Wright State is located in Dayton, a city with a rich history and plenty to offer. Dayton is home to a thriving aerospace industry, as well as a number of museums and cultural institutions, such as the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The city is also known for its outdoor recreation opportunities, including parks, hiking trails, and lakes.

Wright State University is a fantastic choice for students who are looking for a high-quality, hands-on education. With its commitment to experiential learning, diverse range of academic programs, beautiful campus, and student support services, it’s no wonder that the university has a reputation for excellence. Closing Remarks

We would like to thank Coach Metzger for taking the time to share some advice and provide student-athletes with a look into his recruiting process. We will also double down on his comments regarding Wright State University as one of the best-kept secrets in college baseball.

A piece of advice Coach Metzger mentioned, and one we believe strongly in is that players need to be proactive in the recruiting process. College coaches are restricted by their own seasons, resources, and time. They can’t see every high schooler play and rely heavily on outreach from high school players. We’ve heard it from several coaches that they would rather hear from a player first before they reach out to the player. This shows the player has a genuine interest in the school and their program, and coaches always will be more attractive to the players that want to come to their school. Taking a proactive approach to the recruiting process by learning about schools and reaching out to programs will help players tremendously in finding a home.

For players that are interested in a program that competes year in and year out for conference championships and is led by a coaching staff that has a proven ability to develop players, Wright State University should be a strong contender. Again, we would like to thank Coach Metzger, and we wish the Raiders the best of luck in their upcoming season. For players that are interested in learning more about the program, we recommend following Coach Metzger’s advice and keeping an eye on upcoming prospect camps to attend.
