Closing Remarks

We would like to thank Coach McMullan for providing us with some insight into his recruiting process. Any player with the opportunity to play at a program with such a winning tradition and with a veteran coaching staff should be honored and proud of themselves.

Players that are interested in learning more about the program and staff are encouraged to visit the links above and follow Coach McMullan’s advice. To play at a program like Virginia, players need an incredible work-ethic and talent level, and as Coach McMullan said, that will only come from working harder than every other player around. That mindset must be engrained in players that want to succeed at the next level. Competing and succeeding in the ACC requires and incredible amount of talent, and elite level coaches recruit players they are confident will work hard to find a way to succeed.

Coach McMullan provided advice and highlighted the attributes in players that are all areas that a player can control. He mentioned confidence, trustworthiness, and resilience. None of these attributes require natural-born talent. They are attributes that a player can develop, implement, and bring to the table every day. This is important to realize as a player. Coach McMullan is around some of the best college athletes in the world, and he is still preaching the intangible qualities he looks for in players which are beyond qualities that are strictly physical.

Again, we would like to thank Coach McMullan for his thoughtful answers and we wish the Cavaliers the best of luck in their upcoming season.
